Greetings Friends of Global Harvest Church,

It has been a year and half since the world was hit with Covid-19. Much like everything and everyone else, our church was not immune from this. In the beginning, we shut our doors but pressed on with Livestream; and where in the sanctuary there was once echoes of worship and praise, instead there was silence. Yet while the building was silent, the church was not.

Despite the suspended travel and the warning to stay away from large crowds, you have all continued to minister to each other. You’ve checked on your neighbors, you’ve called those who you knew were alone- you were the church. Though there were no in-person programs, you all began to take charge in your households and you developed family worship times and discipleship. You all learned to be present with each other, growing and encouraging in one another’s holiness. And as we witnessed the death toll rise, we began to pray for nations, our cities, our leadership and the areas that have been most impacted by the virus. We prayed out of desperation as we sought the Lord’s healing hand to come upon us all.  Even between the silent church walls, the people of God were never silent!

Phase II increased our capacity to 50%, funneling our people through one entry and one exit. We reopened our classrooms for the NXT GEN students and kids. The seats and areas of fellowship were constantly sprayed and sanitized. People began slowly coming back and slowly began to meet in their Home Groups. The process was careful and thoughtfully prayed out, and we simply allowed Galatians 5:13-15, 2 Cor. 13:11, and Romans 14 lead us. It was in this phase when we saw the hand of God work powerfully as He brought people after people to join our church.

We saw our church ministering to those in need through our local outreach, Cornerstone Ministry. We saw our people raise funds and donate to our Prison Ministry in their time of need. We raised over $30,000 for oxygen tanks and other medical supplies for India, and we raised thousands of dollars for members who were impacted by the pandemic, losing their jobs, and unable to make ends meet. Truly God was doing a mighty thing through His people and for His people.

Now in Phase III, our hope was to give folks the personal option to wear masks, but with new information rolling out from the CDC and speaking with our medical advisory team here at GHC, we sense it may not be the right time to do that just yet. We are now fully reopened yet will require masks still, and our worship service will be recorded and archived as it was in the past.

While we cannot predict the future, we can predict God’s faithfulness and sovereignty. Just as we have done over the past year and a half, we will continue to rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the wisdom of His Word.

Let’s keep pressing on GHC. Let’s keep moving ever forward!

In Christ,
Pastor David
Senior Pastor
