Greetings Friends of Global Harvest Church,

With Covid-19 and its impact on our lives and our church's basic operation, it's been a difficult season for many of us. As many of you know, through prayer and the counsel of medical professionals, we've taken measured steps towards a phased reopening process these past few months.

In recent news, I'm sure you’re all aware of Governor Abbot’s Executive order on reopening Texas by lifting the mask mandates and allowing businesses to operate at 100% capacity.  This means starting March 10th, individuals, schools and businesses will have the personal responsibility in deciding to maintain the Covid safety protocol or not and perhaps you’re wondering how this will affect our church.

Under the protections afforded to us as a religious organization, we have always had the freedom to do what was in our best interest.  We have not been led by anything other than the wisdom of God and the genuine concern for others in all our decision making.

Having said that, for the foreseeable future, there will be no changes to our Covid procedures and policies concerning masks or social distancing.  Governor Abbott's new executive order explicitly gives GHC the authority to do so as quoted below:

"4. Nothing in this executive order precludes businesses or other establishments from requiring employees or customers to follow additional hygiene measures, including the wearing of a face covering." https://tsbde.texas.gov/78i8ljhbj/EO-GA-34-opening-Texas-response-to-COVID-disaster-IMAGE-03-02-2021.pdf

Through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, the council of our medical professionals and the recommendations of the CDC, we will seek the ultimate good of the people the Lord has entrusted to us.  We believe that this will one day pass where we can lift these restrictions but we don’t believe that time is now.

Let me offer you a few verses that has shaped and helped guide our decision making:

Galatians 5:13-15
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.  And the God of love and peace will be with you.

And finally, Romans 14 as we’re called to not quarrel over opinions but bear with one another in our differing consciences.

We are called to build up the body, promote the unity we have in Christ and give glory to God as we pursue the vision He has given us.  Remember, we are a Christ centered church fueled by the gospel, meeting people where they are to find Jesus, discover gifts, grow in faith, become a community and make disciples for the Glory of God.  This is what we stand for, this is who we are.

I want to encourage you to get excited for our Phase II Reopening with the following schedule:

  • April 4 - Easter Service - Reinstate two Sunday Services at 9:30AM and 11:15AM (NO SUNDAY SCHOOL)
  • April 11 - Sunday School reopens at 50% (NPM, Kids, Youth)
  • Fall - Resume Youth Service at 9:30AM

The Lord is with us in this storm because Jesus has all authority.  Let’s come together to worship our King!

In Christ,
Pastor David
Senior Pastor
